About Sherry Klauer
(she/her)

You matter.
Parents often think they don’t have the time or money to care for themselves, and instead, they focus on spending all their resources on their kids. This creates a vicious cycle of striving to please others while ignoring your needs. Not only is this an unhelpful example to set for your kids, but it also sets you up to feel more stress, anger, burnout, and loneliness. Too often, we take these negative feelings out on our loved ones, which makes us feel even worse. You can break this cycle through an intentional and compassionate approach to your well-being. I can help.
It’s not selfish to put yourself first.
Being a parent and/or caregiver to a child who doesn’t quite ‘fit in’ to society feels like an enormous weight on your shoulders. You hear it all day and from every angle – your child isn’t good enough, the systems aren’t set up to support them (social, educational, medical, vocational, etc), and some people are even uncomfortable around your child.
It can be incredibly exhausting to get through the day when you have your unresolved trauma from the life you had before you even became a parent or feel burnt out because you don’t have help and no one can understand what you are going through. Trust me when I say there is hope for a new path forward.
What would it feel like to treat yourself as you would a good friend? How great would it be to finally talk to someone who ‘gets’ what you’re going through and has tools to help?

You don’t have to do it alone.
Together, we will take a well-rounded approach to healing. As a certified personal trainer, yoga teacher, and mindfulness coach, I’m passionate about drawing from all of these disciplines to help you feel more energetic and less stressed.
I know first-hand how challenging it is to feel like life isn’t fair for you or your kids. You’re allowed to feel shame, grief, sadness, anger – any emotion on the spectrum – as a parent. It doesn’t mean you love your kids any less.
Caring for YOU is a fierce act of love for your family.
It’s time to get started.
About Sherry
I started on my new path, working with people to manage stress through physical fitness, yoga, and mindfulness. Everything I learned during this time revealed that I wanted to go deeper, pursue my clinical license, and work with caregivers and parents one-on-one. With this goal in mind, I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with my Masters in Social Work in August 2024. I am excited to start my journey as a therapist with PORTAL.
My spiritual practice is connecting with nature, so in my free time, you’ll find me outside running, camping, kayaking, practicing yoga, and hiking. As a wanna-be vegan, I’m always looking for new recipes to tinker with on the weekends, and you’ll find my nose stuck in a book for at least a few hours a day. I’m Mom to three incredible humans (who have taught me what unconditional love means), two ungrateful cats (whom I adore), and a sassy little Frenchie named Roxie.
